Upon arrival, beat the jet lag by exploring the city. A guide will point out the numerous sites along the Royal Mile and get you acquainted with all the most noteworthy places. Edinburgh Castle is one of the oldest fortified places in Europe; when you walk up to Castle Hill, you'll walk in the footsteps of kings, queens, soldiers, and even a pirate or two.
